W.C.R.P. VIII(L), which spells out where documents are to be filed, went into effect October 15, 2001. All matters for the determination of the Director of the Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) must be filed at 1515 Arapahoe St., Tower 2, 5th Fl., Denver, CO 80202. All other motions and responses must be filed with the DOAH office closest to the claimant's residence. Beginning December 31, 2001, DWC will no longer forward documents that are supposed to be filed with DOAH.

Richard Bovarnick and Tiffany Scully persuaded prehearing ALJ Thomas deMarino to strike claimant's application for a Division IME in Skowronek v. Wal-Mart because it was not timely scheduled.
Cheryl Martinsuccessfully moved to have a default judgment for $37,500 against her client, Shamrock Taxi of Fort Collins, Inc., set aside by Weld County District Court Judge William West in McCallie v. Foose.
Former ALJ Monte Barringer disbarred
People v. Barringer, 99PDJ052 (July 19, 2001): Barringer, a former workers' compensation ALJ and claimant's attorney, was disbarred by the Colorado Supreme Court for violations of the Rules of Professional Conduct in relation to his representation of a client who was a workers' compensation claimant and criminal defendant. Among other things, Barringer was disbarred for forging his client's signature on workers' compensation settlement documents and a settlement check, notarizing the settlement documents when he was not an active notary, making knowingly false statements to his client, and misappropriating his client's funds.
